What an incredible day — but I’m absolutely exhausted!

As part of Young People In Print (YPIP)’s initiative to open our doors and celebrate #InternationalDayOfPrint, we welcomed three local schools and 36 young learners into our facility yesterday.

The aim was simple — to raise awareness of #NoWrongPath and show that the print industry offers exciting, viable careers for young people leaving school.

"All the pupils said they enjoyed the trip and took something away about either career progression, the processes of printing or thinking about how business works."

Why It Matters

At Graphic Warehouse, over 70% of our production team is under 25, proving that earn while you learn works. Through #ModernApprenticeships, our young team members are gaining real-world experience, qualifications, and confidence — all without the burden of student debt. It’s a win for them and for us — ensuring we’re not held back by an ageing workforce.

I shared my own journey with the students — one that wasn’t exactly straightforward. I attended twelve different educational establishments before training as a primary school teacher, only to discover my true passion lay in design, web development, signage, and large-format print. My motto has always been: keep learning.

And I told them something else: I once thought I wasn’t smart enough at school. So, to any young person who doubts themselves — and to every business leader — remember that sometimes all it takes is someone who’s willing to believe, guide, and persevere.

Many thanks,

Richard
